How the math works
A page is one side of a sheet, and a sheet has two pages, front and back. So:
- Pages = cards ÷ pockets per page, rounded up.
- Sheets = pages ÷ 2, rounded up.
- Binders = sheets ÷ sheets per binder, rounded up. Most zip binders hold 20 sheets: 160 cards in 4-pocket, 360 in 9-pocket and 480 in 12-pocket.
Which pocket layout should you pick?
- 9-pocket is the classic. A set reads in neat rows of three, and spreads show 18 cards at once.
- 12-pocket fits more in less space, which is great for big sets and master sets.
- 4-pocket is for showcase binders: chase cards, graded-style layouts and art you want to see up close.
Tips
- Add a few extra pockets per page if you plan art inserts or Michi Method spreads.
- Leave the last page or two empty. Promos and new pickups always turn up.
- Check which cards you already have before buying a binder. In binder.studio, tick ✓ cards as you sort and the collection checklist shows what's left.
